Hi lovies! Wow I just noticed that I haven’t blogged in a week. I hope everyone is good and is alive. June has definitely been a month of re-evaluation for me. If you read my first June post, you may have noticed that I mentioned that I was using this new month and season to reset my life and set new goals for the remainder of 2019.
This year has been moving so quickly I feel like I’m trying to keep up with it but it’s waaaay ahead of me. It’s become a rare occasion to have such a fast paced year; we’re always complaining about how slow it is. However, I’m grateful.
If you follow me on my social media, you probably would have noticed that I asked people if they were happy about where they are currently, versus where they were at this time last year. I received so much feedback from my followers and it basically inspired this blog post. I always say it’s important to regularly check on your progress and goals now and again to see if you are moving or not. Stagnancy can cripple your happiness and success, so you gotta keep moving and bettering yourself.
I’ve noticed that I have changed very much from Cneh 2018. From the way I look, right to the way I talk and carry myself. Last year at this time I was in a mild depression due to unemployment, and I had lost faith in God and in my purpose. I hated myself and I hated my situation. It was so bad that I had lost the inspiration to pray or to actively pick myself up and keep trying. One thing I didn’t know however, is that I was very close to my breakthrough.
My parents prayed for me almost daily and I finally got an internship at a good company. Something I wasn’t expecting. Since then I’ve been on a journey of self discovery and growth. I went back to the bottom of my cupboard and pulled out my vision board. I went to the book store and bought a new Bible , notebook and motivational books. I went back to varsity to finish what I had started, I started this blog and focused on creating more opportunities for myself. I deliberately started making active changes to my life to improve my situation and my life. God has been so faithful to me and I feel so content and at peace.
A lot of people have been saying that they were not in a good place last year, and are feeling better this year and where they are currently; even though they haven’t made huge progress. People need to know that small progress is STILL progress. Be proud of every step you take that betters you or grows you in any shape or form. What you see as “small” is a seed that will eventually grow into a large plant. This reminds me of a parable Jesus once shared in Matthew 13: 31-32, that says:
“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”
Basically the small progress you’re seeing is just a seed waiting to blossom when the right time comes. Working on yourself doesn’t happen overnight, you need to plant and wait. During your waiting period it’s possible that you may come across sunshine or storms. It won’t always be smooth. Sometimes you’ll face a season of drought (no change at all) or of floods (too much change which leads no where) , but what is important is that you stay rooted and you keep growing.
Do not be hard on yourself, just trust God and have faith that one day whatever you’ve planted will come out of the soil (darkness) and come into the light (manifestation, public recognition) carrying fruit (rewards). I know I’m sounding very motivational right now lol! but God reveled this to me in a form of an image. I just need you guys to be hopeful and to go through your challenges knowing that they are temporary, like seasons.
God has a purpose for each and every one of us! Pray that He aligns your plans with His plans for you. Pray that he orders your steps, so that you reach your destination stronger than ever. I hope this will inspire whoever is feeling down and out, and encourage those who are in a great place to keep going!
“Be happy, because you can trust God to do what he says. Be patient when you have troubles. Always continue to pray.” – Romans 12:12
